Milton School District considers tax rate
The Milton School District tax rate will likely rise thanks to a delay in the state budget process. District Business manager Diane Meyer anticipates an increase in the tax rate this year because the Department of Public Instruction was forced to use last year's general aid figures because of the delayed a state budget. Meyer says growth of the student population is helping the Milton School District avoid program cuts in this year's budget. The Milton School Board plans to set the tax levy and rate when it meets Monday night.
