Beloit police say the suspects arrested after officers stopped a burglary in progress could be responsible for up to 20 similar crimes.

Captain Bill Tyler says Marcus Q. Webb and Kawamane A. Brant, both 18 and both of Beloit, are connected with at least eight incidents. Webb and Brant face multiple counts of burglary, criminal damage, theft and other charges.

Tyler says police were in the right place at the right time to apprehend the suspects thanks to citizen input. He says investigators were able to make comparisons, conduct interviews and get admissions from suspects. That, with evidence from their vehicle and other evidence, helped police link the teens to the crimes.

The two are being held at the Rock County Jail pending a court appearance Friday.
