Several members of the Janesville Police Department took a trip to Eau Claire Friday to watch officer Laura Hauser accept an award from the Wisconsin Association of Women Police.

The Mary Rita Ostrander Leadership Award goes annually to a man or woman who supports or acts as a good role model for female police.

Chief Neil Mahan was still beaming in the car on the way home Friday afternoon.

"I just want to say how incredibly proud we are," Mahan told The Janesville Gazette on the phone. "She’s clearly deserving of it. And she did an outstanding job in terms of receiving the award and talking about others and why police work is important to her.

"We should have had a tape recorder on her."

It's too bad that you didn't have a tape recorder...Not only is Laura a great female police officer...she is also an outstanding citizen, homemaker and mother. Oh..and let's not forget...a great golfer....Congratulations Laura !!!
