Brodhead police investigate assault

BRODHEAD—Brodhead Police are investigating an assault of an 18-year-old woman this morning, according to a press release.

According to the release: The woman was walking at about 10:10 a.m. in the 200 block of East 3rd Avenue, when a man approached her from behind. The man wrapped his arms around her chest, but the victim was able to break free and run from the area.

The man is described as about 6 feet tall with a muscular build. He was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood over his head, grey sweatpants, dark cloth work gloves and dark boots.

The victim believes she was followed for one block prior to the assault.

Brodhead police and the Green County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene, but the man was not located.

The motivation behind the incident is unknown, Chief Thomas Moczynski said in the release. Residents are encouraged to stay alert, note any suspicious activity and exercise caution in their daily routines.
