MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Gov. Jim Doyle has announced $33 million dollars in new initiatives for the state's agriculture industry.

Doyle says the spending is targeted at expanding the next generation of dairy farmers and other agriculture businesses in Wisconsin.

Doyle's plan includes making $13 million dollars available to farmers to help reduce pollution and deal with wastewater.

He also is making $10 million available to help plants produce more whey, a cheese byproduct used in processed foods.

The initiative announced Thursday also includes tax credits for upgrading equipment on dairy plants and meat processing facilities and credits to help cheese cooperatives.
