Two join school board race
JANESVILLE
Two people have taken out papers to run for the Janesville School Board in the April elections.
Incumbent Kevin Murray and newcomer Tom Lemmer have registered their intentions to run.
Murray, a paramedic/firefighter lieutenant with the Janesville Fire Department, is seeking his second three-year term on the board.
Lemmer, 44, of 324 Linn St., ran unsuccessfully for Janesville City Council last April. At the time, he worked at Wal-Mart, in the produce department and as the store’s community coordinator.
Two more school board incumbents’ terms end in April, those of Todd Bailey and Bill Sodemann.
Candidates may begin circulating nominating petitions Saturday. They must turn in their papers by Jan. 2 in order to have their names printed on the spring ballot.
Anyone interested in running for school board should call assistant board clerk Nancy Hewes, (608) 743-5056.
