Deputies focus on warrants
ROCK COUNTY — The Rock County Sheriff’s Department is getting into the habit of setting a day aside for a group of deputies to focus on serving arrest warrants.
Sheriff’s Lieutenant Jim Dilley says this is not the typical way many arrest warrants are served. Usually deputies discover a suspect has an arrest warrant during a routine investigation like a traffic stop. During a warrant initiative Monday, 30 active arrest warrants were cleared by four deputies.
The Sheriff’s Department decided to follow up on the success from a similar initiative a month ago when they participated in the national Family Violence Apprehension Detail.

I think this is a good idea to set aside one day to try to find subjects with Warrants or commitments. As a Court clerk we no longer can suspend drivers licenses for Ordinance violations so all we can do is issue warrants or commitments. If they are not either stopped on traffic stops or contact made other ways the warrants/commitments don't get satisfied. Officers are usually too busy to try to check warrants and do their daily patrols. Good idea!!
