Governors come to Wisconsin
MILWAUKEE (AP) - Members of the Midwestern Governors Association are meeting in Milwaukee today and tomorrow, and the focus is on trying to make sure the Midwest goes green. Governor Jim Doyle is hosting the event as association chairman. It's called a summit on energy security and climate change. Plans call for governors across the Midwest and the premier of Manitoba to sign agreements to strengthen energy security. They want to accomplish it by increasing renewable energy production, promoting energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty is acting as co-host. Others due to participate are the governors of South Dakota, Iowa, Michigan and possibly Illinois. The event is being held in downtown Milwaukee's Pfister Hotel.
