Fire district to reinstate employees
The Edgerton Fire Protection District Commission voted tonight to reinstate three men fired in 2003.
The commission voted after a closed session to send a letter to the three fired employees, their lawyer and their union representative offering to reinstate them effective Dec. 2.
A 2004 ruling from the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission ordered the men reinstated with back pay. The order has been upheld in several appeals. Last week, the Wisconsin Supreme Court declined to hear the district's latest petition.
The letter will not include an offer of back pay because the district is waiting for information from the employees, attorney Richard Grant said.
