Eau Claire City Council fights Staskal placement
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (AP) - The Eau Claire City Council is petitioning the governor on the group home placement of man who killed his sister.
Mark Staskal had been living at the Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison since fatally stabbing his sister, Marcy, in 1984 in Milton. He was recently released to a group home in Eau Claire.
The council wants Governor Doyle to order the state Department of Health and Family Services to review its decision to place Staskal in the home.
Council members are critical of how the department handled the case and say it's not been forthcoming with important information.
Staskal's treatment plan includes constant supervision and electronic monitoring.

Put him away. His parents need peace. They have been through enough.
