Lawsuit may affect Beloit casino
BELOIT — Beloit officials, and the two tribes behind the Beloit casino application, are closely watching the progress of a lawsuit.
City Manager Larry Arft says the St. Regis Mohawk tribe from New York state is suing the Federal Government for lack of action in regards to their casino application. Arft says local officials and the St. Croix and Bad River bands of the Chippewa are interested in the outcome of the lawsuit because it could have an impact on the Beloit casino project.
He says the New York casino application is the only pending application submitted prior to the Beloit application.

This casino has now been approved at every lower level. The city, the county, the state all agree that it can be built. (It's the same situation in New York.) Secretary of the Interior Dick Kempthorne seems to be exercising a personal preference. Maybe he's just trying to run out the clock on Bush's term. He can't substantively reject the application, so it sits in limbo. And so does everyone here. Heckuva job, Dickie!

Why cant people just keep their noses out of everybody elses business. If a Tribe "that has ties to this area" wants to build a Casino in the Beloit area, Let them build it!!!! They have a right just like everyone else to make a living. Simple solution!!! If you don't like the Casinos, stay away from them. Plain and Simple.
