State settles with UW-Whitewater dean
MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A legal settlement ends the saga between a former University of Wisconsin-Whitewater dean and the state.
State officials will no longer seek reimbursement from former graduate studies dean Lee Jones after he dropped a federal lawsuit that claimed he was discriminated against.
State lawyers dropped a countersuit that sought at least $10,000 in money they say he misspent on things like computers, furniture and travel.
Jones was fired as dean two years ago after a stinging audit accused him of financial mismanagement.
The audit says he repeatedly broke university rules for spending and travel during his one-year tenure as dean. It also faulted U-W-Whitewater for a lack of oversight.
