JANESVILLE — Although three students at Wisconsin schools have contracted highly-contagious staph infections an outbreak isn't necessarily a concern in Janesville schools.

Mat Haeger, Manager of Health Services for the Janesville School District, says basic hygiene such as washing your hands and covering your mouth when you cough can prevent the MRSA infections from spreading. He also says the practices custodians use when they clean schools, training and sharing information with students and flyers in school are all used to decrease the spread of the staph infections.

Haeger says Janesville schools will soon begin an awareness campaign about good hygiene to combat staph infections and the flu.

Maybe it should be a concern before it becomes and outbreak.
