Walworth County Board Chairwoman Nancy Russell and County Administrator David Bretl will be holding an informational meeting for candidates who are considering running for a Walworth County Board supervisor position in the spring of 2008.

Two informational meetings are scheduled:

10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6

6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8

The meetings will be held in conference room 111 at the Walworth County Government Center, 100 W. Walworth St., Elkhorn.

The workshops will provide those contemplating a run for the county board with an overview of Walworth County government and time commitment that will likely be required of new supervisors.

The two-hour class is not a “how to” seminar on running for public office, but rather a preview of what a newly-elected supervisor might expect to experience if elected to the board.

In addition to outlining the wide range of services provided by county government and highlighting some of the legal rules under which supervisors must operate, the workshops will address the relationship between the board and other elected and appointed officials and review the proposed committee structure.
