Old Man Winter is waking up today, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory is in effect today from noon until 6 p.m. across all of southern Wisconsin. Westerly winds at 20-30 mph are expected with gusts up to 45 mph.

Keep a firm grip on the wheel, especially if you're driving a high-profile vehicle such as a semi or motor home, the weather service advised. Branches will snap and unsecured objects will likely be blown around today, according to the advisory.

Snow flurries are expected this afternoon along with some possible light snow showers into the evening.

In Janesville, winds are expected to diminish late in the day, but temperatures will drop from the low 40s into the low 30s.
