Juvenile suspect in traffic death gets signature bond

Walworth County Judge James Carlson let a Genoa City girl suspected of killing a man by intoxicated driving out of custody on a signature bond.
Krystal A Hart’s parents were allowed to co-sign a $50,000 recognizance bond Monday at a bail hearing.
Hart, 16, is suspected of driving northbound in the southbound lane of County H in Geneva Township about 2:44 a.m. Saturday.
The Badger High School junior collided with a vehicle driven by Everardo Chimal Lopez, 54, of Delavan, who died about an hour later from multiple internal injuries, according to police reports and Deputy Coroner Ron Wilson.
Defense attorney Jim Martin declined to comment. Hart’s parents were at the bail hearing.
District Attorney Phil Koss said Hart will be charged in adult court. All traffic crimes involving drivers age 16 or older are adult offenses, according to statutes.
She was booked at the Walworth County jail prior to being released.

when is the news going to decide to tell all of the facts is my question? And they only have one quote from someone at Badger High because all of the rest were talking good about her!! I feel bad for the both families, krystal knows she messed up and she has to deal with this everyday. How many people haven't messed up in there life! Don't lie everybody has at one time in there life it may not have been as serious as this, or may not have been a crime like this! Locking her up in jail for her life is not the answer to fix everything!

her boyfriend has NOTHING to do with it and he is 21, so get your facts straight. he did not supply any of the substances either. who cares if there is an age difference? that has nothing to do with it, or dependency on their relationship. if it works, it works. lay off and don't spread rumors please, it'd be nice. she messed up and i guarentee plenty of highschoolers have gotten behind the wheel after drinking, they just happened to be more fortunate than krystal this time.
i love you krystal

The theme that is lacking in all of your posts is "personal accountability." This girl is going to understand that term through this trial. Whether she intended to hurt, mame, or kill on Friday night doesn't matter; she made a poor choice and by that choice she needs to be held accountable. The parents have to have some accountability in this as well. I am sure this isn't Krystal's first time smoking dope and staying out too late. Bottomline is, no matter what the punishment, her life and the lives of those directly involved in this tragity are forever altered.

People need to find out the real facts before they start making things up. Krystal is going through so much after this horrible crash being only 16, and people need to give both families time before they start posting horrible comments! I feel horrible for everyone in the accident.

Where did the info come from about her boyfriend? Thought she was only one in car, how did he suddenly become involved? This was a horrible tragedy its a shame all of a sudden boyfriend is being brought up. To the person who said he supplied her with the alcohol is that your assumption if not couldn't you be at fault also for not doing anything, according to your blog? Think we should not be pointing fingers but trying to combat underage drinking, isn't that the problem?

Everyone one here is talking about what is wrong with this girl or all the problems with the situation along with fighting amongst each other. I am the first one to bad mouth drunk driving, but think back to all the mistakes you have made in the past, before you judge others you should look at yourself. Think about when you were young, did you think about what would happen at the end of the night or about having fun? I am nowhere near perfect, I just don't think anyone has room to talk(including myself) and I hope this horrible tragedy can be used to help prevent future tragedies.

another thing to address is that shes a high school teenager. Being out at 2am is something that is not uncommon on the weekends for high schoolers. She had been drinking earlier in the night, she was not drinking and crusing around at 2am and what some of you had said, no one should have let her drive home. The kids who did let her drive home should have some part in the trial and so should the kid who had the party and let her drink so much. Joking around about "finding" the drug dealer is not a joke either.

Her boyfriend is not 22 years old. You obviously dont know anything about her and her life. He didnt supply her with the alcohol either. Where are you comming up with these stories. You are trying to make a 16yr old girl who already has done enough damage sound even worse. Stay out of her personal life. This blog entry isnt for talking about her boyfriend, its about the accident.

22 year-old 'boyfriend' of a 16 year-old girl? Does anyone else see something wrong with this? What were her parents thinking?

Yes. Her 22 year old boyfriend supplied her with the alcohol. All those involved, should be held accountable. The seatbelt issue is irrelevent, ALCOHOL AND DRUGS are the issues. P.S. Let's find the drug dealer.

Was he wearing a seatbelt? My God, a man died! Her parents? The individual that supplied the drugs and alcohol? These are the questions that need to be addressed.

I personally think that a sixteen year old girl should not be out drinking at all as late as she was and let alone driving when she was drinking. I would of had someone else drive her home so she did not even have to go through this at all. Where are the parents in this situation?
