A Delavan man died in a head-on car crash early Saturday morning in Geneva Township.

Everardo Chimal Lopez, 54, was pronounced dead at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center at 3:43 a.m., about an hour after the accident on County H near Park Drive, said Walworth County Deputy Coroner Ron Wilson. He died from multiple internal injuries, Wilson said.

Lopez was southbound on County H heading to a Lake Geneva resort to pick up his sons from work, Wilson said.

A Mercury Sable driven by a 16-year-old female from Genoa City was northbound in the southbound lane and struck Lopez’s Chevy Beretta, Wilson said.

Alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash, Wilson said. He did not release the name of the juvenile.

Town of Geneva Police Chief Ed Gritzner could not be reached for comment.
