Beloit courthouse to be auctioned
BELOIT, Wis. (AP) - Now you can be the first person on your block to own -- a courthouse. The Beloit courthouse and its 2{-acre parking lot will be up for auction later this month. The current owner is Roger Bryden, who says he bought the vacant building last year because he owned adjacent property he also wanted to sell. He paid $65,000 for the courthouse, which the Rock County Board voted to sell in 2005 as a cost-cutting move. Bryden says the fair market value on the courthouse was set about $300,000 in 2006, with the parking lot worth another $150,000. But he says he has no idea how much the property will fetch. The Beloit Auction Service will conduct the auction November 17th.
