A motorcade honoring a soldier killed in Afghanistan will pass through Rock County this afternoon on its way from Chicago to Madison.

Army Sgt. Joshua Brennan, 22, died Oct. 26. He lived in Ontario, Ore., but spent his summers in McFarland with his father, Michael Brennan, an officer with the Madison Police Department.

The motorcade will bring Brennan’s body from O’Hare International Airport to Gunderson Funeral Home in Madison. It’s expected to pass through Rock County on Interstate 90 sometime after 3 p.m., said Deputy Randy Weissinger with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Department will post an honor guard on an overpass, probably Highway 11, said Sgt. Kerry Schlittler with the Rock County department.

The motorcade might slow down traffic on the Interstate because it will travel two vehicles across and go slower than 65 mph, Schlittler said.
