KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) - Union leaders at the Kenosha Chrysler plant say there's no immediate impact of the automaker's plan to cut up to 12,000 jobs. But, United Auto Workers Local 72 president Dan Kirk says they're not sure what the long range impact might be. The Kenosha plant builds engines for the Dodge Magnum wagon, one of four models Chrysler says it will eliminate from its lineup. Kirk says the Magnum engines are a small percentage of work at the Kenosha plant. The automaker says it will cut to up 10,000 hourly jobs through 2008 and will also reduce salaried employment by about 2,100. The announcement comes after the union recently ratified a four-year deal with the automaker. Nearly 80 percent of the 850 production workers in Kenosha voted to ratify.
