Snow removal has been expensive this year for the city of Janesville.

Assistant City Manager Herb Stinsky says the 2007 budget will be close to $700,000 short. When the 2008 budget was being prepared projections anticipate a more than $300,000 shortfall. The added expenditures came during an unexpectedly snowy December.

The city council may need to adjust the 2008 budget to account for the shortfall.

How is it the city is always short when it comes to services for the city, such as snow removal? However they seem to find money to upgrade city hall and give the city manager a big raise? There have been talks of moving the bus garage out to where city services is located. Now I am also hearing they want to move the water dept out there too? How much will this cost and how much will we have to pay for this move? Is this figured in the upcoming budget?

Could be worse. We could be building an aquatic facility!
