Brooks given life sentence

Why wait 25 years? Send him back to the manufacturer right now as a defective product.

If you believe in a religion, it helps to think that murderers will face their victims sometime. Sometimes it gives me a great deal of satisfaction to think that when anyone who commits a serious crime passes on, that retribution of a much higher power just might make them really REALLY sorry for what they did. How can anyone kill someone here on Earth, and not wonder if MAYBE there's a chance it might not be the last time you see them? I hope the victims eventually get payback of some kind (even if mankind's main religion teaches "turn the other cheek".)

My feelings on death penalty are that its an easy out for criminals. Remember the Oklahoma City bombing? Timothy McVey eagerly wanted the death penalty. Why? I can only guess because he did not want to sit in a jail and deal with inmates who would truly punish him for what he had done. Yes, I believe this man was a coward and chose to die instead of suffer the way he caused others to do. Shawn Brooks will spend the rest of his life suffering...not knowing what each day will bring...not knowing if he will get his butt kicked in prison....not knowing if someone will violate him in the way he violated Julie. That, to me, is the punishment he deserves.

I am saddened by this verdict. I am sad that Wisconsin does not have the death penalty to rid us once and for all of this miserable SOB and demonstrate that a person cannot commit a heinous crime and expect mercy. I can only hope that some inmate will shank this guy. How's that for a Christmas wish? It's not my choice to feel this way at Christmas time, but Julie was far too precious and no one has the right to forgive this crime unless it happened to them. We all bear the responsibility as a society to punish offenders and I feel that we have failed in this case. Duty for the Future! Not even a mandatory life sentence? What a bunch of hand-wringing bleeding heart liberals.

Hopefully now Julie's children and family can rest. This will never take the pain away of losing a mother, sister, and friend. But it shows that there can be a Christmas miracle- one more sicko off the streets. RIP in Jules and I will always remember your smile and kindness!
