JANESVILLE—A UW-Rock County professor will study the economic impact of the college on Janesville’s south side.

The UW-Rock County Foundation commissioned the study by George Jones, Ph.D., an associate professor of economics.

A grant from the Frank Fiorina Faculty Development Fund for Research will support research on the impact of UW-Rock County on the county’s economy, according to a news release.

Jones will measure the short-term economic impact during academic year 2007-2008 as well as employment and income impacts resulting from UW-Rock County institutional, faculty, staff, student and visitor spending.

Jones said he knows of no other similar study since the two-year campus was founded 40 years ago.
