Poll shows pessimism over economy both in state
MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A new poll shows that Wisconsin residents are pessimistic about the economy both in the state and nationally.
The University of Wisconsin Survey Center Badger Poll shows that 48 percent of respondents believe the national economy will get worse in the next year. Only 12 percent expect it to improve.
Forty-one percent say they think the state's economy is currently in bad times,'' while 34 percent said it was ingood times.''
And 60 percent say they do not expect a change in the state's economy over the next year.
The poll of 507 people was conducted between Nov. 27 and Dec. 5 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Do people realise "The Fed" raised interest rates at the end of Jimmy Carter's Administration ,& now are lowering interest rates at the end of Bush's Administration with just about the same financial picture? Makes one wonder who is really running this country!!

The Gazette needs to quit reporting on these polls that only involve around 500 people and the Associated Press needs to quit taking them. At a minimum, the polls should involve 1,000 people but preferably 1,500. 1,000 people yields a margin of error of plus or minus 3%. 1,500 people would yield a margin of error of plus or minus 2%.
Second of all, I would like to know the exact questions that were asked. The questions could be slanted.
Third, I would like to know how people for the poll were selected. I need to know that it was not a biased sample.
Until all these things are met, I won't trust these polls.
There's always going to be times when the economy is up and times when it's down. And why are they reporting on the people's speculation on the future of the economy? Not all of WI residents are economists.
