JANESVILLE—Janesville city staff put residents’ property tax bills in the mail Tuesday, said Dave Godek, deputy clerk/treasurer.

Personal property tax bills for businesses also are being mailed.

Janesville residents must pay their bills in the county treasurer’s office.

Dear Dr. Talk,
I suppose you could say, I used a "cacophemism" when I said "Whatever do you mean.."....(No, I do not need a Logic class, but "Thanks" anyways!) Oh, and also, maybe BEFORE you state and post your comments, heed your own advice!)

soside-4life,

It was an attempt at being facetious, but there was truth to it as well. If you take a Logic class you'll learn a lot about recognizing slanted terms, fallacies, and the truth about poll numbers. It was "good" in the sense that it didn't contain any slants or fallacies.

My tax bill went up 6% from last year. An increase of about $120. It was Governor Doyle who allowed it to go up 6% because the budget was passed late. Then there's the people in Janesville that don't pay property taxes yet voted for the school referendum; they are really generous with other people's money. I can't blame the people that pay property taxes and voted for the referendum since they are voting with there own pocket book.

Speaking of tax bills....

The city is out of money for plowing snow, we can't/haven't been able to afford to mow the parks and keep up our green space, we can't afford to maintain our aquatics facilities or provide life guards at Lions Beach, Not enough money to pay the teachers what they deserve, and we just can't seem to afford to decorate downtown/light poles for the holidays. Where do our tax dollars go? I know what I pay in property taxes, and I have a modest home in an older neighborhood. Multiply that times the number of properties, not to mention buisnesses, and that is a healthy sum of money. If I were to budget like the city does I would be in bankrupcy court faster than you can say "charge it".

Short and to the point, stated facts acurately, didn't use any euphemisms or dysphemisms... this may be one of the best articles the Gazette Staff has written.
