RICHMOND TOWNSHIP—The first in a series of Walworth County Smart Growth public participation meetings in December is tonight.

Each meeting will begin with an open house to provide for reviewing background information on existing conditions and trends in Walworth County and the opportunity to discuss the planning program with county staff and Smart Growth Technical Advisory Committee members.

Afterward, staff will give a briefing on the planning effort in the county, including its origins, current status and future activities. Public discussion will follow and attendees will be asked to identify the county's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that need to be considered for a comprehensive plan.

Each meeting will last from 5:30 p.m. until about 7:30 p.m.

Tonight’s meeting is at the Richmond Town Hall, W9046 County A, Delavan.

Future meetings include:

• Tuesday, Dec. 4-Darien Town Hall, N2826 Foundry Road, Darien.

• Monday, Dec. 10-East Troy Town hall, N9330 Stewart School Road, East Troy.

• Tuesday, Dec. 18-Linn Town Hall, W3728 Franklin Walsh St., Zenda.
