Parting thanks
A trip like the kind I am now finishing up is not possible without several people in the background. I would not even be able to get out the front door if not for my wife Heide. She held down the home fort. She often accompanies me on these trips to photograph. I desperately missed her keen photography eye on both my trips to Iraq.
I would like to thank Kyle Geissler and The Janesville Gazette for picking up my blog postings. It was a work in progress because as always, I was not sure just what if anything I could even get out of Iraq on a reasonable time line. The computers and their connections on the road do not often have the power to build blogs and Web pages. A notebook computer is not really an option for the back-road travel I do. Besides, you have to have a phone line to plug it into - that is not always an option in Iraq.
Thanks to all the family, friends, and readers who have taken a moment to write me. Sorry I could not get back to every question or email.
Thanks to WCLO Radio and Stan Milam in Janesville for checking in on me. The same goes to Gordon Heingartner and Norman Stockwell at WORT Radio up in Madison.
I will be spending a day or so checking in on a friend in this neck of the woods. That reminds me I should mention my travels in this part of the world would have been impossible without the help of countless people along the way. People helped me at every turn - some from the last trip, some faces were new.
Thanks again everybody - see many of you when I get home.
