Belvidere workers to vote Friday
Union workers at the Chrysler assembly plant in Belvidere will vote Friday on a tentative contract with the automaker.
Tom Littlejohn, head of United Auto Workers 1268 in Belvidere, has said he’s advising workers to vote against the pact because it doesn’t make 600 temporary workers permanent. The contract also doesn’t list a replacement product for Belvidere.
The Chicago Sun Times reported earlier this week that Chrysler wants to sweeten the deal for Belvidere workers by giving about 600 temporary workers a $3,000 signing bonus.
The plant has about 3,600 hourly employees, including workers from Rock County.
