Fake news stories in Janesville
Both an email and online ad use the logos of CNN, CBS, and MSNBC and claim that Janesville stores can't keep a wonderful new diet pill on the shelves. But lucky you can buy it online.
Despite the news logos and a photo of an attractive woman holding a microphone, this really isn't a news story. In fact, a concerned Wisconsin TV news anchorwoman along with Janesville residents contacted me about the misleading ad.
I exposed this kind of questionable ad in the video below. The video is about work-at-home schemes, but the fakes news ads promote many products.
Glen Loyd lives in Madison and spends many days with family in Rock County. He is a former public information officer for Wisconsin Consumer Protection, publishes a weekly consumer protection blog and is a regular guest on radio consumer protection programs. Glen is a community blogger and is not a part of The Gazette staff. His opinion is not necessarily that of the The Gazette staff or management.

Speaking of "Fake Stories", did you see the headline today "Public Record for Novemeber 18"? When you click on it all it says is "None".
Its like why bother posting the headline? Just looking to take up space?

oldvet: I am also an (old vet) but read J.E.'s blog frequently. Though he often goes on a tangent, much of what he writes makes sense. The point is: If you don't like what he says, don't read it! If you think you can do better, start a blog of your own.

You know, when the internet became available to the general public everyone thought it would change our lives in such a good way. Life would be easier, faster, and simpler, but considering the thousands of scams, spams, and nothing more than another way to flood our minds with stupid adds, it has really become a pain in the a__. So since millions of Americans (and other world citizens) are being ripped off and basically stole from every day, why can't our Government put a stop to the traps and create some extremely serious consequences for those who try to scam and spam others? It does not seem much different than someone breaking into your home and stealing your items in person. The only difference is, they don't have to be there in person to steal from you. It seems to me that this whole internet thing is just another huge problem that did not work as it was supposed to and now it has even expanded into our telephones. Whats next? Data capable wrist watches so we can actually wear our rip off device? Or how about data capable earings for women so you can hear the con artist talk you in to his scam as you do your daily routines? Don't laugh, it is totally possible.
