IIMA - Is it Monday already?

By STEVE KNOX   Monday, January 30, 2012 - 6:15 a.m.

You know what TGIF stand for, right? Thank God It's Friday! Those are more than just words - they're also a feeling. TGIF is a part of many people's vocabulary as the week ends. Friday is great. Personally, Friday nights and Saturday mornings are my favorites. Saturday afternoons and evenings are enjoyable too. Lately, once Sunday afternoon comes around, the though of a Monday rolls into my mind. Is it Monday already? I'm shortening it to IIMA.

Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for what I have and the IIMA feeling is usually short-lived. The heavy-chest IIMA mornings are when I look at my week ahead and know I'm stretched too thin. This morning's IIMA isn't all that bad.

It's generally around Tuesday when someone asks, "Is it Friday yet?" My normal response is, "Isn't it funny how we wish five days of our life away every week to get to the last two?" And Tuesday…it really doesn't have a feel does it?

Monday will soon be in the rear-view mirror and the week will be in full gear. We'll pass through hump day and move into Thursday. Thursday is really just a pre-Friday feel. Life will be back to TGIF in four more days and the cycle will begin again.

Do you have a case of the 'Mondays'? Have you been successful in removing the IIMA feel?

Oh, happy Monday!

I loved the start of school. I grew up on a racehorse farm, and the start of school meant hanging with my friends, and much less physical labor. I still dread the thought of HAVING to feed the horses at 10pm. (my current bedtime is 7-8pm.)

D'oh! garyprimer, I should have said that!
Anyhoo...
Don't fret Steve. When you get old enough, each passing day will seem like a blessing because it's one less day you have to live on this Earth.

The dread of a Monday is no where near as bad as the dread I remember feeling when August would roll around and I knew school would be starting soon.

My wife and I play a game every week called "back to work tomorrow". On Sunday, the first one to say "back to work tomorrow" wins. It started from my habit of thinking about work on sundays, sighing heavily, and saying back to work tomorrow. We both love our jobs, but we'd retire right now if we could!

Isn't the IIMA the one suing people
for illegally downloading calendars?

If you have a job that you enjoy, those feelings are not so bad. I happen to be one of those. Don't get me wrong--my weekends are great, but work really isn't that bad either.

I totally agree Steve! Although I do enjoy Sunday morning breakfasts, it is an almost bittersweet feel. I like the new phrase. Have an awesome week!
