ATV License Plate Requirements
Just a quick additional note.
April of last year Wisconsin signed a bill into law requiring a license plate be mounted on the rear of every ATV licensed and publicly registered in WI.
Starting on July 1st 2012, for publicly registered UTVs & ATVs, owners will be required to furnish a rear plate in addition to the 2 side decals furnished by DNR

Most of the dealers in the area sell kits to make your own plate. The plastic plates are around 12 bucks and the aluminum plates are around 20 bucks.

Yes, it is a way for them to make more money. And yes you can make your own plate (we did) was very simple or we could have bought one from a business up north that was selling them. Actually we didn't even know we had to have one until someone mentioned it (of course the DNR did not send out notices) The DNR are VERY SNEAKY.
