New face on school board
Apparently everyone is happy with the way the city is running right now. At least that’s one way to see it when nobody is challenging any of the city incumbents this spring. Is everyone satisfied with the current elected officials?
The deadline to file for spring elections was 5 p.m. today, so here’s the recap:
All city incumbents will seek reelection and face no challengers. They are: Mayor Sandy Decker, District 1 Alderman Mason Braunschweig, District 2 Alderwoman Janis Ringhand, District 3 Alderman Tony Wyse and District 4 Alderman Todd Culbertson.
The school board is a different story. At least one new face will join the board after the April 6 election.
Four candidates are running for two seats. Incumbent Melissa Hammann will seek reelection while incumbent Jeff Herbers will not run again. Newcomers seeking election are Joel Haynes, 241 S. Fifth St., Evansville; Nancy Hurley, 223 W. Main St., Evansville; and Eric Busse, 478 Badger Drive, Evansville.

I've never been happy with how the City of Evansville is run. From the local judge to the police officers and on to the over-zealous religious community members...nah...not happy....

IQB....They wanted the dirt from the "lake" to be dumped there to raise the grade on thier field. Crossing the creek and RR tracks was not possbile....so it went to another winers land....
As for the city election...good luck to all. I know thier attitudes won't change so I forsee no change in store for Evill. A couple of people I conversed with in town were interested in running, but they already are working at 2-3 jobs to pay for the current debacle and don't have the "free time" to use....

I don't know that I would phrase it as everyone being happy with the status quo. I would say that it's more that people are trying desperately to hang on to their own lives, let alone get involved in City government.
