Eminent domain case proceeding

Here's an update on the city's eminent domain case.

The city has received its appraisals of the two west-side properties it wants to buy. One property owner chose to have a separate appraisal, and the numbers came out different.

Here's a city memo with those details.

The City Council met in closed session Tuesday night to discuss the start of the negotiations.

It's quite normal for eminent domain seizures to have competing appraisals. This is just the starting point for negotiations.

So because of the city and contractor's mistakes they want to take land and not pay what its appraised at. Sounds like the city.
