Family events fill Fourth

By Gina Duwe ( Contact )   June 30, 2008 - 9:23 a.m.

Ahhhh the Fourth of July. Time for family gatherings, grilling out, fireworks and plenty of red, white and blue decorations.

For me, it means having all the aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives together up at our family cottage in Tomahawk. Plenty of water sports, campfires and story telling fill the holiday weekend.

What's your Fourth of July tradition?

In Evansville, it could be the annual festival at Lake Leota Park, which runs Thursday through Sunday. The celebration kicks off Thursday night with music by The Blue Olives.

Here's the day-by-day events.

I love going and watching the fire works at the Lake Leota Park! It's a great show but best of all there is TONS of great food! This year I'll be trying all the stands.
