Hockey Hurricane
It seemed simple enough in writing: The Rock County Young Professionals were having an outing at the Janesville Jets game. Those tickets included food and soft drinks. Enter Jen Drach, co-conspirator and second grade teacher at Wilson Elementary. I volunteer in her classroom, and we hatched a plan to take all the kiddos to the hockey game.
What could go wrong?
Actually, despite the low-level chaos, lost items of clothing and jealousy over a birthday Zamboni ride we made it out unscathed.
Everyone bundled up.
We cheered on our team. (Although when security guards asked the kids to step away from the glass, some shouted, "I surrender!" and, "Who called the cops on us?!")
It was Robert's 9th birthday, and he got to ride the Zamboni!
DaShun was upset, but then he started breakdancing so it was ok.
Lots of kids got shoulder rides from the grown-ups.
And they joined the other kids there to pick up pucks.
Chocolate ice cream AND stickers??!! Best. Night. Ever.
Even the ladies had fun...despite an explosive root beer fountain that stained a certain red shiny shirt before the game started.
After delivering the kids home, the adults debriefed at a local tavern. We were overwhelmed, but I think we all agreed it was worth it.

Good job to you and Ms. Drach! Bonus that the Jets won!
