Edible Book Challenge

By BETH WHEELOCK   Monday, April 11, 2011 - 2:07 p.m.

An employee at Your Janesville Daily Gazette walked past my Edible Book Challenge entry and asked if I maxed out the company's mental health coverage.

{rolls eyes} Thanks, Olmsted.

In fact, I won the People's Choice Award for Most Pun-derful Entry. My submission was "Harry Potter and the Deathly Mallows". Somewhat surprisingly, it was the only Peeps-related entry, and the only HP-related entry.

Believe it or not, I'm not the only weirdo who got into making a book-related creation of food. Elizabeth Hough, Queen of Communications at Hedberg Public Library, posted these photos from Sunday's event on the library's facebook page.

The entries are really quite delightful. And I also learned how to make edible garnishes from root vegetables, among other food crafts.

Enjoy the photos from the event and Happy National Library Week!

I work at the library and I was amazed at the original thought process that went into all of the entries. They were awesome. Jurasic Pork was unbelievable. Good job all and congrats to you.
