A non-whiny winter blog

By ANN MARIE AMES ( Contact )   Thursday, February 4, 2010 - 8:29 a.m.

On Tuesday, I blogged about how sick I am of wearing winter coats.

My mood changed quickly when I got home from work.

As soon as I got home, I set out to shovel the driveway. No coat needed for that project! I was comfy in a sweatshirt and hat.

Just as I got started, Neighbor Bob rumbled over with his snow blower. He waved me out of the way.

While I cleared the front steps, Bob blew through the whole driveway.

Today, Neighbor Bob is very, very high on my list of the World's Greatest People.

It's not even the snow removal that made me feel so good. It was just the fact that a neighbor took the time to be friendly. It honestly made my day.

This weekend, I'm going to bake some bread for Neighbor Bob and his lovely family.

Who made your day, recently? Pass it on.

My neighbor went the extra mile by going into my bedroom & getting my cell phone for a text I needed when I was at work without it!

You should hear how we told our spouses ;)

the other day, while my car was warming up outside and i was running a tiny bit late, my friend/neighbor/coworker stopped by and scraped off my car for me. :)

I went to Rockford to meet a friend for lunch Wednesday and stopped into J.C. Penney and found some clothing deals. Went to pay and the woman behind me asked if I had a coupon. I had forgotten mine at home , as usual, so she offered me one of her 15% off coupons. She was so sweet and she made my day. I was happy for getting such super deals and she put the frosting on the cake! There are really nice people out there! Thank you nice Rockford lady!

My dad used to drive his tractor up and down our road and plow out all the neighbors. Then, in the spring, the baked goods would start showing up.

I never could see the connection between plowing snow and baked goods, but it seems to work. :-)

My new neighbor helped me shovel the other day and in the last snow he ran his snow blower in my driveway and sidewalk. I will be baking for him as well.
