Sweet and caffeinated
When I moved to south-central Wisconsin two years ago, I thought my days of spending hours in coffee shops, sipping lattes, doing crossword puzzles and surfing the Web were over.
That was partially true until today, when I discovered The SweetSpot Coffee Shoppe in downtown Whitewater.
The business occupies part of the former Whitewater Hotel. There's plenty of seating, a large menu of specialty coffee drinks and tasty treats (including lunch items and gelato) and wireless Internet access.
When I mentioned that I would be at The SweetSpot, the executive director of Downtown Whitewater told me this place is one of the city's gems.
Agreed.
I know where I'll be stopping for coffee the next time I'm in Whitewater.
I already love Mocha Moment in Janesville, but where else can I go for a good cup of coffee and a delightful atmosphere?

Yeah, Pleasant Street is cute little place. It reminds me a lot of something I'd see in Milwaukee (think Third Ward along the river).
Lots of people have talked about Books and Brew, but when am I in Milton?
Although, when am I in Whitewater, either?

Books and Brew is a sweet coffee shop/used bookstore in Milton. Edgerton used to have a nice coffee shop too, Steaming Bean, but I was sad to learn last week that it has closed down.
Also, I'm planning a trip to Pleasant Street Coffee House in Beloit very soon. I toured the shop for an article last month and was very impressed.
