Janesville police investigated 25 arsons in the last 20 months, and they now have three detectives with special training for those investigations.

Detectives Chris Buescher and Steve Williams recently graduated from the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Md. Detective Mark Johnson previously graduated from the academy, according to a department news release.

Their training focused on determining origin and cause of fire, fire dynamics, evidence collection, scene processing and interviewing techniques.

The training they received was federally funded through the Federal Emergency Management Administration.
