It is important to keep all children under 6 years of age or weighing less than 80 pounds securely fastened in a Department of Internet approved seat at all times while on the internet. Clear the area of any rocks, sticks or other debris before beginning and never allow anyone to share the keyboard with you. It is important to wait at least 30 minutes after eating before entering the internet.

I was recently made aware of a free program called OpenDNS. I urge parents who are concerned about what can stream into your house to look at this program. It has a great filter that you can set to block websites that feature illegal drugs, violenece, porn and more. It also has a setting that would disallow social media sites such as Facebook, Myspace, etc. It can be set up on an individual computer or on an entire home network. As a parent it is expected of us to guard our children. This is just one more tool to help us to so and I'm thankful that I ran across it. I just want to share it with lots of other parents. This seminar sound very good as well.

As an IT professional, I can say from experience that the internet is a dangerous place for everyone, not just children. It's an extension of our physical world with fewer boarders and controlls. For those inexperienced or naive, they can easily be taken advantaged of with little effort and exploited for many reasons.
