Are the walleyes running?

By Ann Marie Ames ( Contact )   March 30, 2008 - 3:31 p.m.

My brother Rob and his friend Eric are fishing on the Rock River by the Monterey Dam this afternoon.

Rob's been catching walleyes there for a few weeks. But they've been little males. He said any day now the big females should start running.

I could have gone with them. I like fishing, but only for about an hour. Besides, when I go, Rob spends most of his time getting my line unsnagged.

I hope the lady fish are running, and I hope they catch their limit. Those boys are as good at battering fish as they are at catching them.

We'll keep you posted.
