Rainy Day!
Looking outside my window right now makes me think about one reason why I love living here in Wisconsin – we get to see and feel all four seasons of the year. It’s raining and cold(er), but it is October, after all. I love the colors, the smells, and the crispness in the air – everything that symbolizes fall. I love falling leaves and am truly thankful that we don’t have any trees in our yard!
Sometimes, though, days like today give me a good reason to stay cuddled up inside with a blanket, a mug of hot chocolate, and my little girl wrapped up next to me. Today is a day that makes me wish I had no responsibilities whatsoever; nothing to do, nowhere to go. But, our responsibilities as mothers never seem to end just because it’s cold outside. I think that if that were the case, we’d all move to Iceland (or is Greenland colder?)!
To tell you the truth, though, I actually love having all the responsibilities that I do. It’s an amazing blessing to be called my daughter’s mother and I wouldn’t trade this “job” for anything in the entire world. Before my husband and I decided to have a child, I never thought this role was for me. I thought that I would be a full-time employee until the day I retired. I guess that really is what I am – I am just employed by my daughter! I hope that we each enjoy every day we have with our kids; whether we work inside or outside of our home, we have been given a great responsibility and we need to cherish that. Some days are definitely going to be harder than others, but we always need to keep our eyes on the big picture, our children!
Happy Mothering!

How about the Hedberg library? Lots of great programs for kids -- and also -- a great place to just relax/play/read with your kids.

I hate being stuck inside on rainy days with the kiddos. I wish there were more indoor activities for young kids in Janesville. Any suggestions??
How can you say you are thankful to NOT have any trees in your yard??? :(
The falling leaves are beautiful and the extra work is worth it. Plus the kids like to help, and love jumping in the leaf piles! Come on, Kendra, plant a tree! :) <3
