What is everyone talking about?? Lab Safety / Grainger ALWAYS does this. They get rid of between 20 and 50 people all of the time, and then 6 months later, they hire NEW people off of the streets. They have been doing that for at least 6 years... C'mon. Even when they let the 40-some people go in February 2009 (myself included) they were hiring for positions in a matter of months! Watch the paper.. Actually, it wasn't that long ago that they just hired more people - must be time to thin 'em out again!

k. let's raise taxes in Janesville up to a rate high enough to actually pay for the services we ALREADY use and demand as city residents (roads and trash collection are NOT FULLY FUNDED -- WE BORROW MONEY FOR THESE SERVICES BECAUSE JANESVILLE RESIDENTS ARE WHINERS WHEN THEIR TAXES GO UP...) and THEN, we can raise taxes again to cover sidewalks paid by the city when they do road maintenance. Or, people COULD just put in a dang sidewalk and STUFF IT! We don't have any money either. If the city tells us we are doing a sidewalk in our neighborhood, we would FIGURE IT OUT. -- I would LOVE to send my kids out to play in the nearby parks, but I don't want them walking in the streets! Why is it that everyone WANTS a desirable city to live in in, but no one is willing to HELP it become so?

There ARE no cons to this system. It will save the city money; no one is losing their jobs, it IS more efficient, all of the plastics will be accepted AND recycled. Cleaner, more aesthetically pleasing, The ONLY PROBLEM is the people UNWILLING to make it work at their OWN houses! The majority of the citizens will make it work without freaking out, like all of the other communities that enjoy the many benefits of this kind of program.

The PLATFORM that they run on, and the ELECTION that is held for the council is what is bipartisan. -- The Council members THEMSELVES do not have to be bipartisan. They are PEOPLE. (unpaid volunteers, might I add.)
