It would be nice if the gawkers would help with the sandbagging. That way they could get a good look & do some good.
On Teen pleads innocent in drunken-driving death

whybesad, I am two years older than this girl and I had an episode of drinking one night that I don't remember 1 year ago and haven't touched a drop for fear that I will do something horrible and not remember it the next day. She killed someone, whether she meant to or not, and went out well less than a year later and decided to drink again?? That is just unfathomable by me. I don't understand how deciding to drink and drive is a mistake. Was it because she killed someone?? Is THAT the only reason it was a mistake?? That's just dumb. And to say hopefully she'll learn from it, she has just proven that she won't with no respect for the law at all. I think people allow kids to get away with too much these days. There's no reason for her to not see what she did, and is continueing to do, is very wrong and potentially harmful.

I don't know this girl, but for everyone that was defending her in the past months, I think she's proven that she doesn't really think about what she's doing. If I had gone through what she has, I think I wouldn't be touching any alcohol for a very long time if at all. I can't believe she's taken this so lightly. My heart goes out to the families involved, but she's not acting as if she cares.
On Electronic debits moving money more quickly

I work at Mounds and we are told to ask the customers if they are familiar with Telecheck. If they aren't we tell them that its all electronic, you don't have to fill it out because you get the check back with the amount on it, and you sign a reciept with the amount on it. And yet, people say they know what it is and still fill out the WHOLE check. I can see the amount, the store and maybe the date, but signing it too. Esp. when we just explain that you get the check back??? You also get a reciept, so that kind of baffles me why people fill their checks out because they need to know the amount, day, and where they were. All of those things are on the reciept. It's really no different than using a debit card, there atleast, because we don't have a machine for you to put your PIN number in. And if you're worried about the whole taking out the wrong amount issue, save your reciept, and by all means fill out a check but don't take 10 min. doing it by asking the date, where you are, all while pausing to talk about the weather knowing that there is a line beind you.
On Riverfest serves up three generations of rock

bjordan-Who's to say young people don't like Rock or Country?? Speak for yourself. I along with all of my friends like one or the other, if not, both. So Riverfest will be getting good attendence as I see it. If you don't want to go, don't. And another thing, I don't know how many times I've gone to Riverfest and there has been rap and hip hop on other stages besides the bigger ones. They may not be the "main attraction" but they are there.

garyprimer, would you go back to Screamin' Meemee's if you went there and saw half those girls there?? I think that's why a lot of the patrons aren't being caught.

That was for lauriejnsvll. I suppose I should have read concernedparent's post, but I didn't see in the article where it said either of those things.

On Homicide suspect has history of mental-health problems

Even if he had a mental-health problem, he obviously knew it was wrong because according to the other articles, he told his sister that she couldn't leave, tell the neighbors, or call for help. And in my mind, if you kill someone, especially your mother, you have some kind of mental-health issue.
