On Power outage causes early school dismissal

Posted on January 5 at 3:30 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

The inside classes have no windows so there was no light for students and makes it difficult for a teacher to teach don't ya think? The students were very appropriate and very orderly. Yes the lights came on just after dismissal, but the power and light company said it was going to take up to 2 hours before they could work on it. It was approaching lunch time and there was no way to note who bought what for lunch and 9th & 10th graders have closed lunch-it would of been very over crowded and then who is to say they would of come back without knowing what time the power went back on. It was a smart decision.

On Schulte seeks 3 percent pay hike for school's non-union workers

A confidential Secretary is one that is not in a union. They are usually the Secretaries for Human Relations, Superintendent, Business Services. As to the first question-I don't think any non-union people lost their jobs. But I'm not really sure about that.

This is a joke right? I can't believe she is even suggesting this. They are already starting to look at what classes to cut next year and class sizes are busting at the seams and she and the other administrators down there need a raise? I think she had an extra helping to the kool-aid. I honestly think the administration down at the ESC are crazy. I hope the board laughes in her face and then says your fired.

On Superintendent recommends new Parker High principal

If there is a vote-I'm sure it is the selection committee taking their recommendation to the board for approval.

I understand your little story and yes it unforntunate that it happened. In this case-yes there was a selection committee and 2 interviews. Now because of the Quint Studer process the people on the committee can say yes or no. Obviously those people that bleed your precious green and gold said yes. So you need to relax and stop being a baby about it. As for bleeding green and gold-shouldn't you just bleed red and call it a day? We are a school district as a whole and YOU are the reason for the rivals between schools. If you are who I think you are you should be pretty objective about both schools. So stop making people feel bad about a good decision. You should be ashamed of yourself-you haven't even given this guy a chance and you are already moaning about it.

NVgrf-you seem very disgruntled. Chris Laue will be an excellenct principal for Parker High School. Did you not get the 2nd interview? You can talk to whomever you like about how they did things and get different answers each time. Maybe they thought they needed a different approach to the students and staff at Parker. Relax you will see this is the best choice.

There's not 4 assistant principals in the building. Next year there will only be 2 (there is 3 now).

Local 81- or Jodymac-You haven't heard about the custodians or aides or secretaries because they are the LOWEST paid and they don't have the contract deadlines like the JEA. So don't worry that pretty little head of yours-they are coming.

I am positive it is being paid out of the JEA dues. It was discussed and approved. If you don't believe me just watch.

Yes I have taken a sick day when I wasn't sick and yes I have taken a mental health day. But I didn't expect my union to pay me for it either. The teachers that I've talked to that know about this are not happy that their JEA dollars went to this.
