On Lane closures to begin next week

Posted on November 7 at 3:07 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Viewing video footage of the Janesville sewers, much of it is over 100 yrs old and is beganing to implode into itself. The city has only so much money to spend on this project and many lines could crumble into itself like it did on Milton ave about a month ago before it is completed. This is a much needed project so be patient with the city as they tear up your street to fix these problems.

On Vandals toss pumpkins at mailboxes in Brodhead area

Thursday and Friday night the enchanted forest at Palmer park found a lot of theft taken place to props, extension cords, flood lights. A carriage buggy had major damage that carried Cinderella. The list can go on but the point is that little kids who come to events to visit fairy land stories where left in the dark until more supplies could be bought. This theft cost this program $100's of dollars. I just hope that someone who may know who took this equipment will call crime stoppers or the JVL police.

On AT&T provides TV, Internet in Janesville

I live out in the country on the South side of town and I have DSL. This only came when a switcher was placed on the South Side of town. I have had it for about 2 1/2 yrs now and really love. Check with AT&T to see if it is available in the country where you live. I kept doing this until I was told I could have the service.

On City looks for ways to pay for flood damage

Posted on October 15 at 7:11 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

The tunnel and museum has not passed in the council but the ball park has for the tune of 1.4 mill. That kind of money could repair a lot damage done by the floods this past summer. The ball club already has a park over the dump grounds. In these times lets keep using them until times get better. It is not that the kids don't have a place to play ball. The kids and young adults don't have a skate and BMX park and you don't see the city dumping 200,000 into that park. So why do we need a new ball park at this time.

On Budgets, baseball and billing at Janesville City Council meeting

Posted on October 14 at 1:09 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

It is nice to see that no one is complaining about the city spending 1.5 million on the new baseball park. Yet you are complaining that it will cost you 21.23 for the cost of maintaining Janesville operation. By that I mean streets, sewer, police, fire and all the rest of the expenses you just take for granite. So I can assume that if the city puts money into a skate park for the kids and young adults you will not complain. Janesville is the only city in the area that does not have a park for these kids and young adults. So that means Janesville will be able to have a skate park. You just made thousands of young people happy. They have been waiting a long time for this to happen.

On Skatepark effort closing in on goal

Posted on October 12 at 12:24 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I understand your concern of using tax money. You have to remember that the skate committee has been working on this project over 5 years and yet to get any large donors to come forward to bring this park to reality. Yet every city around us has a skate park built in those 5 years. Those cities saw a need for a park that these kids and young adults can safely skate and BMX biking. In the 5 years the committee has had many fund raisers but only get a few hundred dollars because people are not coming out to support this effort. You folks who are complaining is why Janesville a city of over 60,000 people does not have a skate park. You create a negative attitude for this project. People from outside of Janesville can not believe a city of this size does not have a skate park. You folks want to keep Janesville in the dark ages.

On Major Youth Sports Complex expansion moves forward

Posted on October 7 at 1:21 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I just want to comment that all these kids that will be using the sports complex will only use it when there is organized games. Now what is there for these same kids to do when there is no organized sports. Most of these kids have BMX bikes, skate boards or inline skates. This is a one on one sport that could be done at a skate park. Janesville and the people of Janesville need to get behind this program and began to give support to the skate park committee. Go to there web site at Janesvilleskatepark.org and look at all the great things that are taking place. This coming weekend is a roll-a-thon held in Palmer park to Dawson park and back. Have your kids pick up pledge cards at locations on the web site and maybe by next summer the park can be started.

Sorry it should be 200 million people, not 310 million

Cozat5:

Use your calculator again. Multiply $425.00 times 310 million and you will come up with 85 billion. It sure sounded good in print but the real truth is only $425.00. That really does not correct the housing or college bills.
