On Retiring teachers' benefits altered in Delavan

Posted on May 16 at 8:22 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I don't hate teachers. I hate what has happened to the economy but everyone has to be treated equally. Just because I didn't choose to be a teacher doesn't mean that I have to shoulder more of the costs for education than the next guy. Everyone needs to pay their fair share in taxes and live with the changes that needed to take place to help everyone, not just one segment of the economy. The money is just not there anymore for us to pull extra weight.

On Changing demographics, changing schools: Delavan-Darien deals with open enrollment

Delavan is not the city I was born in and was proud to be from. Because of demographics, you will not see any of the better chains build restaurants or other higher end stores here. Wal Mart dominates. Need I say more? The school has lost students that could have made it great and classes that I think are a necessity and have nothing to do with getting into college. The whole thing is just sad. And there IS an 800 pound elephant in the room and everyone has walked around it for years.

I'm embarrassed that anyone would even participate in something like this. I am proud to stand by Scott Walker and what he has done. The unions better watch out, the silent majority are coming in June.

When reading this I somehow knew that some Walker haters were going to blame him. Just how is this his fault? At some point you people need to wake up and understand that this economy is horrible and it has nothing to do with who is Governor. Just because a company decides it's going in a different direction, has nothing to do with politics. It's called "the bottom line".

Pat on the back to your Governor, Scott Walker, for not letting those that care only about themselves, get to you. BACK WALKER ALL THE WAY!

Walker had nothing to do with Janesville being blighted. Blame GM and the Unions.

I understand their plight but why isn't there a story printed about the people who have always made low wages and have had to survive because they didn't belong to a union. My income is down 42% and I have no health insurance unless I can pay for it. The husband is an ironworker so I'm sure he is still making very good money and is still in the union with good medical benefits.
