On Packers' stock sale under way

Posted on December 6 at 9:10 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Bought my share this morning. I realize the stock itself is "for show", but I have been to Lambeau several times and love the stadium. I'm willing to have my little piece of the Pack and also help keep Lambeau the example of what a real NFl stadium should be.

On Roundabout plan takes next step

Posted on November 8 at 10:58 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I live in the area and a roundabout at that intersection doesn't seem like a reasonable idea. Narrowing it down to two lanes from four has actually slowed things down a little bit and it's easier to get on and off the side streets. It's a busy road and a busy intersection. A roundabout would only serve ot back things up and lead to more problems, not less (but I do agree, not putting it in because "people can't understand roundabouts" is a weak excuse).

On Kindling a new era

I love my Kindle. It's great when you're traveling; I usually download 4 or 5 books before vacation and I'm ready to go. I still read "real" books occasionally but the Kindle is great. And now that there is a Kindle app for the iPhone, I can access my Kindle library from my phone. It's a great way to pass the time waiting in line.

On What's in our names?

Posted on June 8 at 7:15 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I remember hearing "You can't judge a book by it's cover, but you can tell whether it's a classic or a dime store trash novel". I don't know if that's exactly true, but societal "norms" certainly influence how people are perceived. I somehow have a hard time imaging someone named Kal-El landing up as a brain surgeon. Whether that has to do with the actual person themselves or the environment they grew up in (as demonstrated by having parents who thought it was a reasonable name), I think our names have an influence on who we are, how we are perceived by others and where we land up.

On Milton students conquer obstacles in school parkour club

I have always thought parkour and FreeRunning were incredibly interesting, I have seen it on cable and the internet, etc. It takes an incredible amount of strength and stamina to perform some of these maneuvers and the training must be intense. It's nice to see a sport "off the beaten path" for a change. Good for these students!!!

On Food Restrictions

Wow, wahoo_35and sarahmarden, as a person with a family member with type 1 diabetes, I find YOUR comments insulting. When I read the blog, I don't get the impression Ms. Parsley was comparing a pet with diabetes to a person with diabetes. It's called a segue. A way to open up the topic and possibly allow people who aren't familiar with it to relate to it. She was opening the topic up about dietary restrictions and was making a valid point, that regardless of WHY you have restrictions, it's not easy. More people need to understand these issues and Ms. Parsley was opening up a forum for discussion. Instead you chose to b-slap her.

Perhaps, if she (and others) are not familiar with the stress and misconceptions of diseases requiring dietary restrictions, we could provide them with information or share our experiences without being condescending or rude.

On Which Super Bowl commercial was best?

Posted on February 7 at 4:46 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I really liked the Bridgestone commercial with the beaver, thoguht that was cute. I HATED the one for HomeAway where the baby gets thrown face first into the glass. It was tasteless and not the least bit funny.
