On Wisconsin to use part of settlement for budget

Sorry, I misspoke, I should have said; "I'd post links to verified sources and links, however people like their data wrapped up in a burrito of ideology stuffed with cherry picked data, loud mouth commentators, fake news and fantastical libertarian fantasies", but I think you get my point.

On Wisconsin to use part of settlement for budget

Yes, I see the GOP apologists are out in force today. If homeowners don't deserve the money, which by the way, the amount the settlement is for is a complete joke, then why is Walker raiding it to plug the budget shortfall, you know, the one we're not supposed to have because of all the wondrous and "needed" changes him and his buddies "think" we needed?
======
From what I've read of the comments so far, it seems none of those that are continually blaming American homeowners for the problem actually have no clue as to the complexity of the housing market bubble. Not surprising. I'd post links to verified info and sources, but they would get ignored, or the sources would be attacked in some childish manner.

On Court: Calif. gay marriage ban is unconstitutional

Posted on February 9 at 7:37 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Canada approved gay marriage 7 years ago. The world did not end, Jesus did not smite us from the earth, a block hole did not swallow us whole, and people are not marrying their dogs or cats. The alarmism and closed mindedness of individuals is what led to the horrible persecutions by those that claimed a moral superiority in the past, justifying horrific behavior. People with these attitudes are an enemy to freedom.

Why do we have to define marriage at all? Marriage is an artificial social construct. If gay marriage bothers you, don't get gay married.

On How will mining bill help Wisconsin?

Posted on February 6 at 1:43 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Excellent post onedayatatime. N. Wisconsin/ Upper MI main source of revenue is tourism, and I don't people understand the immense amount of money people spend to experience that. I'm certainly not anti-mining, and there may be room for mining and tourism, but there is always a price. The question is, is the taconite mine worth the long term risks? I don't know.

On Contraception mandate outrages religious groups

Good for Obama. I'm completely with him on this one. Do you want to know what is absurd? A health plan backed by a religious organization that won't pay for birth control pills, but will pay for hysterectomy. So a woman, who doesn't want anymore children, but would like a sex life with her husband, has the choice of paying hundreds of dollars a month out of pocket for pills, or having her entire uterus removed and having it covered. That is hateful towards women. It is mired in magical thinking and ideology, and has no place in a modern and enlightened world.

On Wis. tribes complain to feds about mining bill

There are environmental issues with mining, this is true. However we have a larger problem. If consumers want their stuff, demand has to be met. Currently, most of the minerals used in manufacturing come from China and other countries. It would be nice to extract if here IF, in fact consumers want their "things". There is a price to being a consumer, since that is what were are now, certainly not Americans. It's easy to talk about being environmental, but then cruise the interwebz on a computer built in China, built using minerals extracted elsewhere, shipped over on a big boat that burns bunker fuel, then trucked all the way to your store or door by a diesel truck.

Isn't this just more government regulation? I propose that if you eat at restaurant and you get sick, you probably shouldn't go back. Of course you or your loved ones may die from food poisoning, but you'll die knowing you were free from the "tyranny" of government. Sounds like a plan to me.
