On Project spent more than voters approved; board wants an accounting

Posted on February 24 at 7:08 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Pennington went into the meeting unprepared. Where was the representative from JP Cullen to help answer questions. Why didn't Pennington know who signed off on the final payment - that payment was made after school was opened and he was the only one authorized to sign it. Why didn't he have any research to back up his numbers? Lack of preparation makes for a poor presentation.

On School district brain trust to be reorganized

Posted on June 22 at 2:34 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Mr. Sodemann, I stand corrected. I found the article in the archives and Dr. Schulte is making $11,500 more than the previous superintendent. However Dr. Evert had years of experience in that role and had worked his way up to that wage/compensation package. Dr. Schulte had no prior experience and yet is making at or slightly above the outgoing Superintendent salary. I read this was because she was taking on the role of two employees by cutting her old position. Now instead of that position being cut it is divided into two different Director jobs. Just what, if any part of the old Director job will Dr. Schulte still maintain for that increase in pay?

Thank you Mr. Schultz and Mr. Sodemann for your replies. I do understand that the positions being changed into Director positions will not be filled, but that doesn't change the bottom line, the budget for administration is still being increased. What part of supervision over that department will Dr. Schulte play? Or is everything being handed off to the two new Directors?

Mr. Sodemann, did Dr. Schulte agree to less benefits for increased pay? From previous articles in the Gazette I came away with the understanding that overall compensation for Dr. Schulte was to be approximately $30,000 more per year than the previous Superintendent.

Dr. Schulte received a substantial increase in income over the previous Superintendent. This was based on the fact that she was eliminating her old position as a Director. Now her plan is to create two Directors to be in charge of the areas she was to have supervised. Both of the people who are becomming Directors are receiving an increase in pay.... Where is the cost savings in this? Isn't that one of the platforms that Dr. Schulte was campaining to the Board to get hired as Superintendent? Is Dr. Schulte taking a pay cut?

On Buses with belts concern school board

Maybe the question should be "why is the School Board forgetting the board policies they established?" They don't remember mandating seatbelts on school buses when the time to fund them comes around. Tell me why we elected these people? Are they just not paying attention to their own motions?

My registrations were numbered. They put a numbered sticker on each registration so later they can register them in the order they were received.

On Teacher contract bargaining may soon change

Posted on March 9 at 4:13 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

purrmaid,
Teachers, salemen, bankers, retail buyers, clergy and all other professionals put in more than the 40 hours that is alotted in a work week. Most in the form of meetings, research and tending to those who need their services. It isn't unusual to see that in a professional position. That is why these people receive salary pay as opposed to hourly pay.

If you are comparing teachers to other professionals you need to keep in mind that teachers still have less contracted work hours than other professional and yet for the most part they still receive the same yearly pay.
